I was interning at Mammoth Lakes when Pei came to visit. We both agreed that the food at American ski resorts weren't the best. By then, I was a much better snowboarder than her from practicing daily and I was quite proud to have surpassed the pro. Like a flower blooming after the snow melts, this piece symbolizes growth and gentle confidence. Light, luminous, and minimal — perfect for everyday wear.

In Japan, they have these extremely adorable, boxy little cars that look like pastel-coloured washing machines on wheels. Pei found them hilarious and started calling them the “bu hao yi si” car — a joke that sounds way better in Chinese. It’s so cute, it almost feels embarrassing to be seen in. This piece reflects that light-hearted memory we shared. In Chinese symbolism, clouds represent harmony, protection, and gentle balance. At its centre, a 5mm pearl adds a soft, quiet glow — a small detail that makes this necklace a subtly charming companion for everyday wear.

“不好意思”车（"Bù Hǎo Yì Si" Chē）

在日本，有一种特别可爱的方方正正小车，看起来就像一台台粉彩色的洗衣机在路上跑。Pei 觉得很好笑，于是开始叫它“不好意思车”——这个梗用中文说才更有感觉。可爱到一种程度，反而让人有点不好意思被看到。这件作品承载了我们这段轻松有趣的回忆。在中式文化中，云象征着和谐、守护与温柔的平衡。中央点缀一颗 5mm 珍珠，散发出柔和低调的光泽，为日常佩戴增添一份恰到好处的灵动与可爱。

When in America, it’s completely normal to stay in your ski gear — who really has the luggage space for coats and proper boots anyway? Well… that logic didn’t quite translate in Japan. I had a very memorable (and slightly embarrassing) three-hour train ride from Niseko to Chitose, where everyone was dressed in muted shades of grey and black, like winter office wear. And then there was me — in full traffic-light colours with zebra-striped pants. I will never forget that moment.

This piece mirrors that monochrome train — a seamless row of pearls, like a carriage of black and white. Minimal at first glance, yet quietly striking, it turns restraint into something undeniably luxurious, letting simplicity speak for itself.

在美国，穿着滑雪装备完全正常——毕竟谁的行李空间够放大衣和雪靴呢？不过……这种逻辑在日本可就不适用了。我有一次非常难忘（也有点尴尬）的三小时火车之旅，从二世古到千岁，车上每个人都穿着灰色和黑色的低调冬装，就像冬日的办公装。而我呢——全身红黄绿的交通灯色，还搭配斑马纹裤子。我永远不会忘记那个瞬间。

这件作品正如那列单色火车——一排排珍珠宛如黑白车厢。乍看极简，却静静地惊艳，把克制转化为无法忽视的奢华，让简约本身开口述说。

You can probably tell by now how much we LOVE Japan. On another family trip, Pei, Thomas (Ling’s husband), and I took a day off to snowboard at Shiga Kogen. I do not remember what the rest were up to as I was having way too much fun in an unexpected trio. I never thought I’d get a moment like this with Thomas and Pei. Living apart isn’t easy, and it’s made me cherish moments like these even more. Featuring a trio of crystals set above a single statement pearl, creating a design that feels harmonious like three friends playing in the snow.
