In Japan, they have these extremely adorable, boxy little cars that look like pastel-coloured washing machines on wheels. Pei found them hilarious and started calling them the “bu hao yi si” car — a joke that sounds way better in Chinese. It’s so cute, it almost feels embarrassing to be seen in. This piece reflects that light-hearted memory we shared. In Chinese symbolism, clouds represent harmony, protection, and gentle balance.
